ISS Montreal provides full vessel agency attendance and ship husbandry services, attending and managing all vessel types including Tankers, Bulk, General Cargo, Cruise and Military – as well as Seaway Transits and fittings.
Montreal is located in the St. Lawrence River at the beginning of the St. Lawrence Seaway, in the Province of Quebec, Canada.
The port of Montreal is situated most Easterly of the St. Lawrence River – 265 Nautical Miles from the 1st Pilot Station “Les Escoumins”, which is situated at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River into the Gulf of St. Lawrence. When transiting to Montreal from Sea, vessels will board the 1st Pilot at “Les Escoumins”, then perform pilot changes (in transit) at Quebec, then three Rivers up until Montreal.
Montreal is historically the HUB for many St. Lawrence River, Seaway and Great Lakes ports.
Montreal houses many Tanker Terminals/Facilities, as well as Breakbulk, bulk and mainly containers.
Load Line zone: Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Seasonal Area for ships of 100m or less in length, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
Chanel at Montreal is calculated at 11.30 Mtrs at Chart Datum – Depth alongside varies from 6.5 Mtrs to 10.67 Mtrs – Depending on Terminal / Dock.

For vessels arriving from Sea, Pilots require 48 hours advice, then 24/12/6 hours confirmation to “Les Escoumins” P/S, which is approx. 20-24hours steaming from Montreal – 265 Nautical Miles.
Tugs can be arranged through Group Ocean – Which have on alert at least 4 “Z” Drive tugs for assisting inward and outward. 4 hour confirmation is required for arrival or departure.
Tidal range and flow:
The Port of Montreal does not have any Tidal range, however, water levels fluctuate on a daily basis, and this is governed by wind speed/direction, weather and rain falls. The Water level fluctuates from 20 cm BELOW Chart Datum to as much as 2.5 Mtrs ABOVE Chart Datum.
