Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) Argentina was formed in December 1994 as a result of a joint venture between Inchcape and the Menendez Group in South America. The Menendez group has a long tradition in the shipping industry which started in the middle of the last century when it was established in the Strait of Magellan.
As part of the ISS Group’s expansion target the agreement between the companies was finalised on November 4th 2006 and since this date the office has been managed completely by Inchcape Shipping Services, keeping the same personnel, standards and policies and upgrading the procedures and agency coverage.
During 2007 as part of the strategic expansion process we acquired one of the most important local agencies, expanding our coverage and expertise in the Dry Bulk market. Now, with offices in both Buenos Aires and San Lorenzo we offer specialized services to our customers and a full coverage of all Argentinean ports by means of our own offices and our network of subagents.
Argentina is currently one of the most prolific grain producers in the world and this fact makes this country very important in terms of the shipping industry. With a growing ports infrastructure this country has been marked as a very important growth platform for ISS. Our geographical expansion will play an important role in this region with a particular focus on Dry Bulk dedicated ports.
