The Port of Abbot Point is Australia’s most northerly coal port, located approximately 25 kilometres north of the city of Bowen. The port plays a significant role for Queensland because it is one of the few locations on the eastern seaboard where deep water (greater than 15 metres) is so close in-shore.

The port is owned by the Ports Corporation of Queensland and managed by Abbot Point Bulkcoal. It services the Newlands and Collinsville coal mines which are located on the northern edge of the Bowen Basin coalfields. The port consists of a coal terminal, and a single trestle jetty and conveyor connected to a berth and shiploader, located 2.27 kilometres offshore. Two tugs based in Bowen service the port. Each year, the port handles approximately 149 ships.

Inchcape Shipping Services’ Abbot Point Office is well positioned to provide all shipping agency services for the port. The team is experienced and committed to maintaining a high level of service.
