Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia and is home to over 1.16 million people, making it the fifth largest city in Australia. Located on the eastern coast line of the Gulf St Vincent, Adelaide stretches a 90 kilometre span from Gawler at its northern extent to Sellicks Beach in the south. The city’s economy is driven by manufacturing, commodity exports, technology, and defence, with a large number of Australia’s defence-related companies operating in Adelaide.
The Port of Adelaide is the city’s main industrial port and is located 14 kilometres northwest of the centre of Adelaide. The Port consists of an Inner and Outer Harbour, with over 20 wharves, including the DP World Adelaide container port. The major commodities passing through the port include shipment of grains, motor vehicles and components, and ores and concentrates. The Port services over 10 million tonnes of cargo a year, with the primary export destinations being the Middle East and Asia, while imports primarily arrive from the United States of America and Asia.
The Inner Harbour services roll-on roll-off and bulk cargoes including exports of grains, cement clinker, bulk liquids and a variety of manufactured products. The Outer Harbour has specialised berths equipped to handle general cargo, grain, motor vehicles, and cruise ships. The Adelaide Container Terminal is also located there, offering users a container capacity of approximately 250,000 lifts per year and an extensive intermodal rail and road connection system.
The team at ISS Port Adelaide is based in the Inner Harbour area of the Port of Adelaide and has extensive knowledge of the local region. The team is on hand to provide a comprehensive agency service to meet their Principals' needs.
