Port Everglades is located on the South East Coast of Florida at Fort Lauderdale in Broward County. Port Everglades makes Broward County an economic powerhouse and one of the most diverse seaports in the United States. With a channel draft of 42 feet salt water it is also one of the deepest channel drafts in Florida.

Berths in Port Everglades have drafts from 33 feet to 42 feet alongside. The pilot pick up point for port Everglades is approximately 1 mile from the Sea Buoy. The transit time from pilot pick up to dock is anywhere from 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes making it a very short transit to all berths. In addition, the port is situated on the Inter-coastal Waterway which runs from the Gulf Coast all the way up past most of the Eastern Seaboard.

Port Everglades is one of the busiest cruise ports in the world. Offering daily cruises to the Bahamas and 3 - day cruises and longer to the Bahamas and throughout the Caribbean, Port Everglades is home port to some of the best cruise ships in the world. Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Princess, Celebrity and more all make calls to Port Everglades and most have home ported ships right here. Queen Mary 2 also calls Port Everglades frequently.

As well as being one of the busiest container ports in Florida and one of the most active cargo ports in the United States, Port Everglades is also South Florida’s main seaport for receiving petroleum products including, gasoline, bio diesel, ethanol and jet fuel. Port Everglades also loads out crude oil products. The port has an immense tank farm including Exxon Mobil, Amaco, BP, Hess, Motiva and TransMontaigne to hold the volume of petroleum products it takes to serve Palm, Broward, Miami - Dade and Monroe counties, which amounts to more than 7 million residents and millions more visiting annually.

Although cruise, container and petroleum account for the majority of port calls, Port Everglades also handles some Ro Ro services and also handles natural resources such as cement, sugar and steel.  With a foreign-trade zone and available office space inside the Port's secure area, Port Everglades is a highly desirable business center for world trade.

Broward County Sheriff serves as the Port Facility Security Officer for Port Everglades and offeres 24 hour, 7 day a week 365 days a year security. The Port Security Office is a 200 mile per hour hurricane wind proof building. Port Everglades also has its own fire and rescue units located within the secure port limits.

The port of Port Everglades is a self-supporting Enterprise Fund of Broward County Board of Commissioners. It does not rely on local tax dollars for operations or capital improvements.

Port Everglades boasts an annual surpass of $18 billion. Approximately 200,000 Florida jobs are impacted by Port Everglades, including 11,600 people who work for companies that provide direct services to Port Everglades.
