A World of Local Expertise
Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) provides global strategic maritime, cargo and supply chain solutions to shipowners and
operators who span all geographies, market segments, vessels and asset types.
Our vision is ‘to be the world leader in maritime and cargo services’ and in 2014 we successfully acted as the agent for:
What does this mean for our customers?
Growing global network – we are where our customers need us to be - whether this is in a remote / difficult location or not
ISS is financially secure and prepared to invest in our network, products and services
We are ISO accredited and this is being rolled out right across the business through the company’s own Inchcape Marine Academy (IMA)
We are a customer-focussed operation committed to customer service excellence
Building enduring client relationships
We build long term strategic relationships with our clients, which enables them to outsource back office maritime activities, especially port call management.
This allows us to gain a fundamental understanding of our clients’ businesses and combined with
an in-depth knowledge of the maritime industry, we are able to develop integrated solutions that are focused on maximising efficiencies
within their operations, improving both business performance and profitability.
Full service offering global footprint
The ISS global offering entails having both a market-leading geographical footprint and the ability to offer a full range of services in each location.
It’s a solid worldwide platform from which ISS can seek to build business with existing clients and engage with those it wishes to work for.
Further global growth will come from the company’s plans to expand successful business operations from one region into others. For example, while port agency underpins
everything ISS does, freight forwarding is currently strongest in the Middle East and tug and barge management is local only to Indonesia.
Based on the extensive and fully mobile expertise within the group, and a willingness to invest in new facilities and infrastructure, the company is able to provide an unparalleled range of services
to any client, anywhere in the world.
With the needs of its clients in sharp focus, ISS continues to shape the services which it offers. For example, responding to the omnipresent threat of piracy, especially in the Indian Ocean,
the Gulf of Aden and West Africa, ISS has together with its partners, developed a vessel protection service. To safeguard vessels and crews, ISS has launched a cost effective armour protection
retrofit service, providing unrivalled certified countermeasures against rocket propelled grenade and small arms fire
Trust in ISS is of key importance as without it, clients would simply choose to place their business elsewhere. With trust, built on transparency and a strong commitment to compliance, clients are instead bringing us into the heart of their organisations.
The company is committed to putting something back into the communities in which it operates. It does this through altruistic programmes such as the ISS Lighthouse Relay Voyage which was launched in early 2011, and sees donations made to charities that are local to ISS offices.
Attracting and developing talent
ISS is proactive in bringing talented people into the industry and in nurturing talent to encourage career advancement, better anticipate the needs of clients and engender further professionalisation of the industry.
Initiatives include the ISS Marine Academy, encouraging staff to gain professional shipping and other industry qualifications, and the development of intellectual capital through making a global industry news and information
service available to all staff, promoting attendance at conferences and supporting employees wishing to become members of trade associations.
To the benefit of economies around the world, ISS employs local staff and contracts with local suppliers and vendors.
Leading industry thinking
ISS demonstrates its leadership credentials and creates context for its services and solutions, by contributing to and leading the debate on challenges that the maritime industry faces.
The company is vocal on operating within the changing dynamic of the shipping industry, particularly in relation to the current economic downturn, and how shipowners and operators can
face this challenge by ensuring that their supply chains and operations are as efficient as possible.
Other specific areas of interest include outsourcing, crew welfare, corporate social responsibility and compliance.
