Trade union action at the Flemish Pilotage and Fleet – update 5.12 – 8.30am
The situation is currently as follows:
Marine pilots from the ACOD and VSOA unions continue to take maximum rest actions. The pilot transfer (supporting embarking pilots in Flushing) are on strike.
Currently, 30 ships are waiting to embark or disembark to/from Antwerp.
If this situation is not resolved soon, 70 ships will be waiting by tonight and 100 ships by midnight. About ¼ of the seagoing vessels are handled by the Dutch pilots (by normal rotation).
There will be a consultation with the cabinet at 8am this morning.
Another consultation with Minister Rutte may follow later in the day.
